Good morning

20150526_094407Morning’s are weird for me at the moment. During term time I couldn’t wait for it to be the holidays so that I could just rest and take it easy – things were really getting on top of me and I was struggling to keep my sanity with the pressure of finishing the year well building higher and higher.

But now term time is over, I have what I want: time – and now I have nothing to do with it. I’m faced with a couple of months ahead of me with barely any shifts at work or anything to do. Everyone else around me works full time, so I can’t bother them or be in their lives 24/7.

Any suggestions?

You should get mindfulness colouring books! Sounds a bit odd but I have anxiety and sometimes it’s really helpful to spend an hour quietly concentrating on something – it’s surprisingly calming! If you search mindfulness colouring books on Amazon you’ll find one! X

Expand your cooking skills! You get something out of it but you can also share it or just give it away. Whatever you will feel great about your accomplishments.

Well, there’s always Pinterest. lol I could kill hours a day on that site! Otherwise, take up gardening. It’s very therapeutic and I find a lot of joy knowing that I can bring life to at least something. I’ve got 4 little cilantro sprouts started! Take some online courses just for fun, learn a new skill. The possibilities are endless. Keeping busy helps with anxiety.

When I’m a lone a lot I look for random classes.anything from art classes to dance classes. I go to movies by myself and I go for walks with my ipod. Hang with your dog and play with her/him in the park. if you drive, bring your dog and go for a nice car ride somewhere out in the country and listen to some music with the windows rolled down. Shopping can be fun if you have money- maybe get a new top or whatever it is you’re into- some girls like shoes (im not into shoes hehe) clean your place really good- go through boxes of old junk, etc. go swimming, etc.
alone time can be fun if you can keep yourself busy. anndd you have your dog so you got some company 😀 😀 😀

A Hobby – Something of interest to you, that can take a bit of time and give a sense of accomplishment without stress.
    – Personally, this is Board Games (either Solo or with Family) and LEGOs.
    – But choose something that interests you, there are great suggestions already posted.

This is my first summer break where I’m not taking any other classes and have this two month block of time to do with what I want. I’m kind of in the same position you are, all this new free time and nothing to do with it. I’m spending the time catching up on my reading, catching up on all the shows I didn’t get to watch while I was doing homework (yay Netflix and Hulu), and spending some time working on personal projects–writing, artwork, crafts, things like that.

Take a fun class on something you wouldn’t take at university. Like painting, cooking, archery, ceramics, playing an instrument. You may find a hidden talent! 🙂

I volunteer at a local hospital. I guide people to offices, deliver mail sometimes or just talk to people..and other non stress things (I told them up front that would be a condition. That’s a nice thing about volunteer work.) It looks good on a resume too.

I was going to say the same thing, volunteer. Not only does it look good on a resume, as one poster stated, but it also helps you keep to a regular schedule and who knows, you might even be hired on. It’s always a possibility. Or you could find a hobby to fill your free time, or design something to re-sell it on Esty or turn up some random weird things at flea markets, thrift stores and try to re-sell them on eBay although that, in and of itself, is like a full time job. It just sounds like you’re going through boredom. You might even try hanging out at your coffee shops or a cafe that offers wi-fi access if technology is your thing, too. Or you might try volunteering at your local senior citizens center. Some times the elderly need and want someone to talk with. It’s just a thought. Oh, and you might try self-publishing (sometimes you get paid for what you write too)… it wouldn’t be much of a pay out just depends on the genre you write about and what you price your books at. You can find out more by going onto Smashwords or Kindle Direct Publishing…. those are my suggestions. Oh, and the library doesn’t hurt either. Hope this helps. 🙂
